Conductor Jakub Hrůša receives the Bavarian Culture Prize. – Munich

Jakub Hrůša, chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony, is among those honored to receive the Bavarian Culture Prize. In the interview he talks about what Bavaria means to him and what will happen next when he takes up the position of music director at the Royal Opera House in London in 2025.

Jakub Hrůša, 42, has been chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony since 2016. For his services, he will receive the Bavarian Culture Prize 2023 in Munich on Thursday, November 16th. The culture prize, worth a total of 96,000 euros, is awarded by Bayernwerk AG in close partnership with the Awarded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art. Other award winners this year are the band dense & poignant, the writer Rita Falk, the German-Syrian artist Adidal Abou-Chamat as well as the artists and art sponsors Michaela and Bruno Wank. The special prize from the Bavarian Ministry of Art goes to the cartoonist Dieter Hanitzsch. Jakub Hrůša will not be able to accept his award in person on Friday. After all, the Czech is also in great demand as a guest conductor all over the world.
