A planned giant concert by Rammstein on New Year’s Eve in Munich caused a stir and was finally canceled. Now the Berlin musicians around front singer Till Lindemann make it clear that they had not yet confirmed the performance.

“It is correct that the band had a fundamental request for this, not for the Theresienwiese, but for the Munich exhibition center,” said a band spokesman for the German Press Agency in Munich. “There was neither a final commitment from the band nor an event contract.”

According to the plans of the Leutgeb Entertainment Group, 145,000 people should celebrate the year 2023 with Rammstein in the middle of Munich on the Theresienwiese, the location of the Oktoberfest. The city council approved the venue and referred it to the administration for further approval.

After discussions, among other things, about the noise pollution of the residents, the high demands on the police and rescue workers and the safety of the visitors, the organizer surprisingly canceled the project on Tuesday.
