Complaints of sexual assault during a police check, the IGPN seized

The facts would have occurred on the morning of March 14, north of Nantes. While he had just participated in a filtering barrage organized at the Porte de la Chapelle with trade unions as part of the fight against the pension reform, a group of demonstrators was blocked by the police on a pedestrian path on the edge of the ‘Erder. Tensions erupted. Identity checks were carried out.

It was during these security checks and body pat-downs that four young women, registered at Nantes University, allegedly sexually assaulted by female police officers. They would also have suffered degrading remarks.

An open investigation

The four alleged victims appeared on Wednesday at the Nantes central police station to file a complaint. Given the specificity of the case, the public prosecutor decided to seize the general inspectorate of the national police (the IGPN), also nicknamed “the police of the police”. An investigation for “sexual assault by a person of authority abusing his functions” has been opened.

The four students were auditioned by the IGPN on Friday. “It is important to collect all the versions before drawing any definitive conclusions”, indicates, prudently, Renaud Gaudeul, public prosecutor.
