No age limit: 42-year-olds in the final of “Miss Germany”

A woman from Hamburg wrote to the organizer asking whether the age limit for the “Miss Germany” election could be reconsidered. A year later, the woman is among the participants.

A year ago she wasn’t allowed to take part, but now Mignon Kowollik (42) from Hamburg is among the ten finalists for the title “Miss Germany”. The previous age limit of 39 years has been lifted, said the managing director of the Miss Germany Studios, Max Klemmer, to the German Press Agency in Europa-Park in Rust, southern Baden. “I wrote an email asking whether you would like to reconsider it,” said Kowollik, who works as a sex counselor and presenter, to the dpa, referring to the current age limit. The youngest participant in this year’s final is Adwoa Awuah (22) from Essen.

According to Klemmer, the minimum age for the competition is 18 years. As was the case last year, the winner of the competition will receive the “Female Leader Award”. It comes with a prize money of 25,000 euros.

“Miss Germany” was once a competition with bikini rounds on the catwalk. A few years ago, the organizers initiated an image change. Since 2019, the personality of the participants and the willingness to take on responsibility have counted. According to the organizers, around 15,000 women applied this time.

One of the finalists is Tamara Schwab (31) from Roth, Bavaria. According to her own statements, she has been living with a donor heart for two and a half years. “I can live a normal life again,” she said.

Christina Modrzejewski (28) from Dinslaken is struggling with difficult challenges: she developed a rare autoimmune disease in 2021. The trained nurse relies on a wheelchair and electronic orthoses. Orthoses can be used, among other things, to stabilize damaged joints, immobilize limbs and correct poor posture.
