Times of crisis are usually not good times for competition. Because when companies and the economy are doing badly, people like to move closer together, but competition is then no longer so popular. Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt, wants to counteract this, despite persistently high inflation, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis and the recent effects of the pandemic. “In all crises, the regulatory and consumer-oriented orientation of the Federal Cartel Office remains unchanged,” emphasized Mundt on Tuesday.
