Communist Fabien Roussel wants to “leave” the alliance, according to Manuel Bompard

Fabien Roussel’s attitude and speeches, at the Huma Festival and since, have not gone unnoticed on the left. The national secretary of the PCF has recently increased the number of positions taken criticizing this alliance of the left which “is not a political formation”, according to his declarations on Saturday evening in the program “What a time! » on France 2. “Fabien Roussel is not a political adversary but he chose (…) to distance himself from Nupes, to get out of it,” said Manuel Bompard, coordinator of France insoumise on Europe 1 and CNews. “I take note of the fact that he considers that he no longer has anything to do with Nupes (…) that he has decided to leave Nupes,” he added.

“If we have to build the gathering, it must be done with respect for our differences,” recalled Fabien Roussel in an interview with Journal.info on Sunday. “I hope, for example, that we can accept having different lists in the European elections and that it is not experienced as a breach of contract. I invite Jean-Luc Mélenchon to take a little height. I am giving my hand. You don’t shoot someone who reaches out,” he added.

For his part, Manuel Bompard repeated his wish to see the left present a common list for the European elections in June 2024, led by the ecologist Marie Toussaint who has already confirmed that she would lead the EELV list. He notably sent a letter to the leaders of the left-wing parties, except the PCF, in this sense to try to reopen the discussions, while the communists have chosen Léon Deffontaines to lead their own list and the MEP Raphaël Glucksmann is ready to lead the independent list of the Socialist Party. “We need this union, it’s the shortest way to win, so we need a common list for the European elections,” Manuel Bompard tried to convince on Europe 1 and CNews.
