Commerzbank wants to pay out more – economy

Frankfurt – Commerzbank wants to distribute at least half of its profits to shareholders over the next few years through dividends and share buybacks. The bank announced on Thursday that the target is a payout ratio of 50 percent for the years 2025 to 2027. For the coming year, shareholders can even expect a distribution of at least 70 percent of profits because Commerzbank only paid 30 percent for the previous year. For the current year the rate will remain at 50 percent. The distributions for the years 2022 to 2024 are expected to total three billion euros. The upper limit for the distributions is the net profit less the coupons on the AT1 bonds and the minority shares. The European Central Bank (ECB) and the Federal Finance Agency must also approve share buybacks.
