Comment: The absurd approach of the local building commission – Munich

The procedure of the local building commission in Munich regulates something that has long been regulated: noise protection. And makes it unnecessarily difficult for citizens to switch to a heat pump.

Trees, noise, garden gnomes: hundreds of thousands of cases of neighborhood disputes end up in court every year. Mostly it’s about bossiness, sometimes about serious harassment. With the energy transition there is now new fuel: the beeping and humming of air heat pumps. The fans are primarily responsible for this. They are installed outside and suck in air from which the system extracts the heat it contains. If the noise disturbs the neighbors, there can be trouble and legal problems.
