Comment: Pullach delays decision on Bischof-Meiser-Strasse – district of Munich

For almost two years, the Pullach municipal council has been arguing about how to deal with Bischof-Meiser-Straße and it still can’t bring itself to change the name or attach additional explanatory panels to the street signs. That is a sign of inadequacy, because the role of the evangelical regional bishop Hans Meiser during the Nazi era has been well researched. The theologian had already spoken out in a decidedly anti-Semitic manner in the 1920s, later he remained silent on the persecution of the Jews and the euthanasia murders. The fact that he is said to have worked to save “non-Aryan Christians” does not wash him away.
