After a break of several weeks, it will soon be “malting” again in Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel. Bullerei is celebrating a comeback – with a very special Corona concept.

The news hit like a bomb a few weeks ago: Tim Mälzer is closing his bullery. It was already clear back then: It was just a temporary break. He sent his team on vacation for three weeks, explaining this with the increasing number of infections and the announced 2G-plus measures. Now the – albeit small – comeback is pending. In the coming week, the restaurant in Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel will open its doors again with a very special Corona concept.

“Fabulous February. We’re back!” Wrote the TV chef in an Instagram post. From February 3rd, things should continue with a new menu, fresh vigour, a rested team and, above all, a coherent, tangible and easy-to-implement 2G-plus concept. “We look forward to seeing you like bulls.”

The malting strategy: test containers in front of the restaurant

“We see greater challenges in the catering trade in the coming weeks – also in view of the planned restrictions, which we very much support,” Mälzer told the “Hamburger Abendblatt” before the short-term closure. Although the chef spoke out in favor of 2G plus, he also complained that there was still not enough rapid test capacity. In addition, experiences from other federal states have shown that the obligation to test is accompanied by considerable losses. He seems to have found a solution for that.

A corona test container was set up directly in front of the restaurant. Guests who are not boosted do not have to do without a short-term visit to the restaurant. You can have yourself tested on site. “No test? No problem! Come 20 minutes earlier and do your quick test directly with us,” reads the announcement.

In addition, the usual corona rules such as contact tracing and the curfew apply. In Hamburg, the shop has to close at 11 p.m. Mälzer makes a good drum roll about the reopening and exudes optimism: “We are looking forward to a fabulous February, mega March, excellent April, excessive May, jubilant June, jubilant July… Oh no: we look forward to seeing you!”
