A giant gold coin is shown in Hamburg for one day. Your material is worth 2.2 million euros. But their weight is also impressive.

One Gold coin with a material value of currently 2.2 million euros was exhibited in Hamburg on Friday. The coin weighs 31 kilograms and measures 37 centimeters in diameter, as the precious metal dealer pro aurum announced. The gold coin minted in 2004 was displayed for one day in its newly opened branch on Rödingsmarkt. According to information, there are only 15 of them worldwide.

“In the year it was issued, Europe’s largest gold coin cost less than 400,000 euros – a bargain compared to today,” the company continued. “The gold coin was minted by the Austrian Mint on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the investment coin “Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.” The front shows the organ in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Music Association and the back shows various instruments.

The nominal value of 100,000 euros at the time of issue was deliberately chosen to be lower than the real value of the gold used in it. “Special coins are official means of payment in the issuing EU country – in this case the Republic of Austria,” said branch manager Filippo Destro. “That means you could go shopping with “Big Phil” in Vienna’s pedestrian zone for 100,000 euros, but then you would be missing out on 2.1 million euros.”
