Colombia: Residents Take Smelly Bubble Bath After Rains (Video)

Residents of the Colombian city of Soacha had to take an unpleasant bubble bath on Wednesday. Toxic and stinking clouds of foam pressed into residential buildings and piled up in the streets in the morning after heavy rains during the night. Local resident William Sanchez found his kitchen filled with foam one morning and feared damage to his home. “Honestly, this house could collapse at any moment and I’ll have to sleep under a bridge. I’m unemployed, I live with disabilities.” At least 30 buildings were affected, it said. Firefighters sprayed water to decimate the foam. Local media reported the foam came from a sewer that overflowed from the rain. A laboratory analysis should clarify whether chemicals, waste or other substances caused the foam.
