“Grandpa, that was for you!” Rapper Eko Fresh commented on the inclusion of his song “Der Gastarbeiter” in a school book.

A song by the Cologne rapper Eko Fresh made it into a school book. The text of the title “The guest worker”, which deals with his origin, has therefore been printed in a reader (“He wants us to have a better time because the reasons for the move were definitely not due to the weather”).

Eko Fresh was happy to announce the publication on Monday via his Facebook account. The native of Cologne wrote: “Grandpa, that was for you!”

The family of Eko Fresh, whose real name is Ekrem Bora, comes from Turkey. His mother has Kurdish roots, his father came to Germany as a political refugee in 1980, as it says in the print in the school book. The said song appeared in 2012 on his album “Ek to the Roots”. The 38-year-old rapper often addresses clichés about his origins in his music and regularly campaigns for political and social issues.
