Collective bargaining conflict – new warning strikes at the post office – economy

Shortly before a new round of negotiations, the Verdi union started new warning strikes in the wage conflict at the post office. The protests started as planned and participation was good, a spokesman said on Monday. Around 8,000 employees followed the call for warning strikes. Verdi has also called on selected Post offices for Tuesday. In view of the high inflation, the union is demanding a wage increase of 15 percent for twelve months, but the Post Office rejects this wage demand as unrealistic. However, the company has also announced that it intends to put an offer on the table in the third round of negotiations on Wednesday and Thursday. Against this background, the protests recently organized by Verdi are “exaggerated from our point of view, since they are ultimately at the expense of our customers,” said a Post spokesman.
