Base, Coinbase’s layer 2 blockchain network, launched in early August, set a record.Transactiondaily hit record highs, according to data from IntoTheBlock.
Base had 1.88 million transactions on Thursday. This is higher than competitors Arbitrum and Optimism combined, which had 780,000 and 370,000 transactions, respectively.
“What’s interesting is that It is not decentralized finance (DeFi) applications or the NFT token market that is driving Base’s increased activity, but much of it from new social applications like FriendTech,” said Lucas Outumuro, Head of Research at IntoTheBlock said.
Decentralized social networking platform Friend.tech is built on Base and bills itself as a “marketplace for your friends.” The platform has seen an increase in usage over the past week. which daily transactions also reached an all-time high.Friend.tech transactions There are 529,000 of them, according to IntoTheBlock.
The increase was partly driven by users hoping to earn points that would later be used for airdrops.
