The public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt is investigating the illegal possession of drugs against Eintracht President Peter Fischer. His lawyers announce a timely admission after the inspection of the files.

The lawyers of Eintracht Frankfurt’s President Peter Fischer will make a timely statement to the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office because of the ongoing investigation against the 66-year-old.

Fischer’s legal adviser Stefan Bernhard-Eckel of the German Press Agency confirmed a corresponding report by the “Bild” newspaper. In addition, the publication of a statement by Fischer on the allegations is planned for Thursday evening or Friday at the latest.

Fischer lawyer: “A huge air number”

The public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt had already confirmed on Monday that preliminary proceedings had been initiated against Fischer for the illegal acquisition and possession of cocaine. Bernhard-Eckel was quoted in the “Bild” newspaper as saying: “It will turn out that the whole thing is a huge air number.” When asked by dpa, he said two days: “I stand by that.”

Fischer is represented in the case by several lawyers. Bernhard-Eckel confirmed that one of the legal advisers, who specializes in criminal law, inspected the files of the public prosecutor’s office on Tuesday. The presumption of innocence applies to Fischer until the legal conclusion of the proceedings.

The association had not commented on the cause after the allegations against Fischer became known. Eintracht Frankfurt’s board spokesman, Axel Hellmann, said on Monday: “I won’t say anything about that. Not as a friend, not as a member and not as a club official.”

President since 2000

Since August 2000, Fischer has been president of the association with more than 100,000 members in 19 departments. In the more than 22 years he has developed the traditional Hessian club with his unconventional nature and closeness to the fans into one of the largest Bundesliga clubs in Germany. He was only confirmed in office for another four years on September 26, 2022.

The entrepreneur is seen as a dazzling personality and a man who uses harsh language, but who shows attitude. In March 2022, Fischer was awarded the Buber Rosenzweig Medal for his clear positioning against right-wing extremism, anti-Semitism and racism.
