Coburg: the accused confesses to having killed loved ones – Bavaria

In the trial surrounding the death of a young woman in Upper Franconia, the 29-year-old defendant made an extensive confession at the start. Before the Coburg district court, the man described on Tuesday how he had had an affair with the 28-year-old from Bad Rodach (Coburg district) for a long time. At times he also left his wife and children because of the affair.

In a statement to the court, he accused the 28-year-old of stalking and repeatedly harassing him. According to him, the man wanted to live with his family again in spring 2022. In May 2022, a dispute broke out in a gazebo in Coburg, in which he hit the woman “with all his might”. The 28-year-old then held her neck and gasped. When the woman was dead, the accused brought her body to a forest near a lake near Coburg with the help of the woman’s car. There he buried them.

The reason given by the defendant for his actions was that there had been a confrontation between the 28-year-old and his wife in the gazebo immediately beforehand. He was afraid for his wife, his child and the 28-year-old. The public prosecutor’s office accuses the man of having killed the woman “under unspecified circumstances on purpose”. The woman was suffocated by violence against the larynx on inhaled blood. The charge is manslaughter.

With a helicopter, divers and sniffer dogs, the police had been looking for the young woman for days in spring 2022. After about two weeks, her body was found by the lake near Coburg. Police arrested the man a few hours later. At the time, witnesses reported to the police that they first saw the woman’s car in the wooded area and later again in the hometown of the missing person. The accused from the Coburg area has been in custody since May 2022. A verdict could come in early May.
