In the event that the Union wins the next federal election, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Söder will clearly reject a possible black-green alliance.

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has renewed his rejection of a black-green alliance in the federal government. He cited migration policy as one reason. “For many Germans, migration is the central question and then Black-Green is the wrong signal and honestly the wrong coalition,” said Söder to “Bild am Sonntag”.

There needs to be clear Union leadership in the elaboration of content, and he cannot imagine that with the Greens. “I am against cooperation at the federal level. I think the Greens deserve a long break in Germany.”

Söder had already spoken out several times clearly against the black-green coalition in the federal government after the next federal election. On the other hand, CDU leader Friedrich Merz did not categorically rule out collaboration with the Greens in February.
