Climate protection: Markus Söder lacks courage – Bavaria

Reducing CO₂ emissions is the order of the day when it comes to climate protection. Now there is a well-founded plan as to how this could work in Bavaria. But it is already foreseeable that Söder will throw this expertise into the bin. Because of one word.

So there is now a plan as to how the Bavarian CO₂ emissions could possibly be reduced by a fifth within a few years. And yet one can already imagine how the state government will resolutely throw this plan in the bin. The plan comes from a recognized energy researcher, but the commission from Greenpeace. The word “green” is in Greenpeace, and that alone will deter Prime Minister and CSU boss Markus Söder. Because his campaign strategy essentially consists of condemning everything that even sounds like an idea that could also be from the Greens. In many socio-political questions that is okay, in a diverse democracy it even has to be. But when it comes to climate protection, it is a mistake. If Söder fought for the Bavarian climate goals with the same determination as against the political competition, the Free State would have been two or three steps further.
