Climate protection in Bavaria: ten measures – 20 percent less CO₂ – Bavaria

The Regensburg researcher Michael Sterner has calculated how the state government can make progress on climate protection in the next legislative period with simple means and comparatively little money – if they want it.

“Premium country”, “front runner”, “role model” are the words that Prime Minister and CSU boss Markus Söder uses when he talks about climate protection in Bavaria. He is also very ambitious when it comes to goals. By 2040 – five years earlier than the federal government – the Free State should be climate-neutral. By 2030, CO₂ emissions per inhabitant are to be reduced by 65 percent compared to 1990. So Söder had it written into the Bavarian climate protection law.
