Lia Nicholson, 33, from the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda is leading the negotiations for the Alliance of Small Island States (Aosis) at the World Climate Conference in Glasgow. It is an alliance of 39 countries from the Caribbean, the South Seas and the Pacific that suffer from similar problems due to climate change. Nicholson studied in the USA and worked, among other things, for the Ministry of the Environment in her country. She reaches the SZ via video chat in her New York office.
