Climate activists protest with blockades without glue

There is no sticking, but traffic is still hindered: Last generation activists have become active in several cities.
The group Last Generation is back with road blockades in several places Germany demonstrates for more climate protection. Unlike previous campaigns, the participants did not become stuck.
According to police, around 130 participants in Berlin blocked the Warschauer Bridge, a central transport connection in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, at midday. They repeatedly stood and sat on both lanes of the road.
In Munich and Regensburg, the police counted 120 and 150 demonstrators, respectively, at reported and unreported gatherings. The police there said there were no major traffic problems in Munich.
Liquefied natural gas terminal “the pinnacle of fossil fuel madness”
According to police, 27 activists blocked traffic on an access road to the Sassnitz ferry port not far from the Rügen terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG). The emergency services initially let the group do their thing. This is the case at least as long as the action has the character of a meeting. A spokesman for Last Generation had previously said the protesters planned to stay longer, possibly until Sunday. The liquid gas terminal is “the pinnacle of fossil fuel madness.”
There were also actions in Freiburg, Karlsruhe and at Stuttgart Airport. The police spoke of a peaceful protest there.
Further blockades are planned in Bremen, Cologne and Leipzig. The last generation is demanding radical climate protection, including the complete abandonment of coal, oil and gas. Since the beginning of 2022, the group has organized road blockades in which participants stuck themselves. Recently, however, she announced that she would change her strategy and avoid sticking in the future. She called for “disobedient gatherings” nationwide.
