Clemens Schick spent his childhood partly under police protection. That was “normal” for him at the time.
Clemens Schick (50) has in the podcast “And what do you do on the weekend?” currently” talked about his childhood under police protection. At the time, his father was investigating as a public prosecutor against the Red Army Faction (RAF), also as part of the Stammheim trial in the 1970s. “As trial days approached, something changed,” the actor recalls on the podcast. His parents once said: “We get very thick discs and buttons with which to call the police.” His reaction as a child: “I thought that was great.”
At the time, he “didn’t understand” what police protection meant. But the parents also “managed to keep all of that away from us,” says Schick. “For me it was normal that you came out of the house and there were often the police. I didn’t question that at all.” After his parents’ divorce, the family “slipped out of a certain security level”. As a result, the additional security measures, “the thick panes and buttons”, did not come. As a child, it was “a big disappointment” for Schick.
His father ‘would never break his vow of silence’
He has not yet spoken to his father, whom the actor describes as “one of the most correct people”, about this time. The former prosecutor “would never break his vow of silence,” emphasizes Schick. “No matter how exciting that would be or how much time has passed since then.”
Clemens Schick is one of the few German stars who have also had an international career. Among other things, the actor was seen as a villain in the Bond film “Casino Royale” (2006). Most recently, the 50-year-old stood in front of the camera for the series “Das Boot” (2020) and the “Tatort: Luna eats or dies” (2021).
