Claudia Vogt teaches parents to read their children. The bonding consultant knows what is important for a good start in life.
Claudia Vogt, 51, works for the Munich association Harl.e.kin, which was founded 25 years ago in the Harlaching Clinic and is now active in many Bavarian municipalities. Its employees look after families with premature or risk-born children in the transition phase from the hospital to their homes. Because the survival chances of premature babies have improved enormously – in technically highly developed countries like Germany. Many premature babies can develop just as well as all other children today. Not only the medicine is decisive for this, but also how well the parents are supported. For more than 20 years, the occupational therapist has also been supporting families with disabled and developmentally delayed children for the Munich Lebenshilfe. Claudia Vogt received further training as a developmental psychology consultant at the University Hospital in Ulm. The mother of two adult children now also works as a freelance bonding consultant. When she visits her home, she repeatedly experiences a lot of insecurity and a roller coaster roller coaster of emotions in the parents – both of premature babies and of children born “mature” – and the relief when the confidence in dealing with the little creatures grows and relaxation sets in.
