Clark Kent’s new superhero is bisexual

“The new Superman is showing off as bisexual,” DC Comics announced Monday of the new comic it will publish in November. In this adventure signed Tom Taylor, the superhero Jon Kent, the son of Clark Kent, will fall in love with a man, in this case a journalist named Jay Nakamura.

“I have always said that everyone needs heroes and has the right to represent themselves in these heroes”, the author explained in a press release illustrated by a drawing by artist John Timms.

Tom Taylor believes that “the symbol of Superman has always been hope, truth and justice. Today this symbol is something more [et] more people can relate to the most powerful superhero in comics ”.

Very involved against social injustices

In an issue of Superman published in August, Jon Kent, son of Clark Kent and journalist Lois Lane, befriends reporter Jay Nakamura. In the issue to appear on November 9 in the United States, this relationship will turn into a romantic romance. This new series entitled Son of Kal-El, makes Jon Kent appear as a superhero with different concerns from those of his father: he is very involved against social injustices, climate change or the refugee crisis.

This is not the first time that American comics have been more in tune with the diversity of society: the series Aquaman had put forward this summer a black and gay superhero, while in the last edition of the comic BatmanRobin also displayed himself as bisexual.
