A dentist wanted compensation from AstraZeneca because she became deaf in one ear after her corona vaccination. The Mainz regional court dismissed her lawsuit.

Three days after being vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine, the then 40-year-old lost hearing in her right ear. To this day she is deaf on that side.

Mainzerin wanted 150,000 euros in compensation from AstraZeneca

The Mainz native is convinced that the vaccination was the reason for her health problems. So she went to court and demanded 150,000 euros in compensation and damages from the vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca.

At the beginning of the trial in June, representatives of AstraZeneca argued that hearing loss had not been shown in any study to be a side effect of the vaccination.

The plaintiff’s lawyer countered that he had an expert opinion that ruled out causes other than the vaccination. In addition, the professional association recognized the vaccination damage.

Lawyer calls the decision of the Mainz district court “misjudgment”

It is not yet known why the lawsuit was dismissed. The reasons for this would be submitted in writing later and the plaintiff would have to bear the costs of the procedure, the judge ruled in the civil trial on Monday in Mainz.

The plaintiff’s lawyer spoke of a “misjudgment”. He doesn’t understand why the Mainz district court didn’t demand at least one more report. The woman herself said the verdict was a “slap in the face to all those affected.” She announced to the SWR that she would appeal. That would then have to be negotiated before the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz.
