City of Munich provides one billion euros for the climate – Munich

Over the next six years, the town hall coalition plans to spend 170 million euros annually to reduce CO₂ emissions. By 2027, Green-Red wants the renovation of buildings alone to cost 540 million euros.

Despite the city’s financial difficulties, the green-red town hall coalition wants to continue investing in climate protection. There are no plans for cuts in the so-called climate budget. Among other things, the city plans to promote the energy-efficient renovation of buildings much more than before. The coalition wants to provide around 540 million for this by 2027, which is roughly double the amount previously planned. Further large amounts should be reserved for climate investments in individual neighborhoods and for planting trees.
