The Aion sub-brand of the Chinese car maker GAC has cracked the 1,000-kilometer mark with the LX plus electric SUV.

France and buggy. You immediately think of St. Tropez, sandy beaches and feminine beauties whose long hair blows in the Mediterranean wind. The hearts of the Citroën Mehari fell 50 years ago. French icons such as Brigitte Bardot or the legendary comedian Louis de Funès got behind the wheel of the beach lover. So what could be more natural than to follow in the footsteps of its famous predecessor and make the electric cube Citroën Ami fit for the Cote d ‘Azur. The Citroën My Ami Buggy Concept study shows what such a vehicle could look like. And if you look at the chronically overcrowded streets between Antibes and Monaco, it should be clear that the concept is more than showmanship.

The upgrade naturally begins with the look, which pulls the familiar off-road registers. So the designers widened the wheel arches, in which there are coarse off-road tires with matt gold offset rims, tubular sills placed under the doors, brackets and headlight grilles attached and a spare wheel strapped to the roof. So you get Sahara feelings and thanks to the ram protection you now also know where the American is in front and behind. The eye-catching roof spoiler behind the tire helps aerodynamics and thus also the range. Stylistically, you could do without it. So that the My Ami Buggy Concept also shows itself to be the legitimate successor to the Mehari, they have consequently disposed of the doors and replaced them with tarpaulins.

The technique of the crossover cube comes from the American series. That means a 5.5 kilowatt hour battery, 6 kW / 8 PS and a maximum speed of 45 km / h. That means you can move the rolling cube around town with the AM driver’s license. However, the range of the off-road variant is likely to be a little less due to the presumably greater air resistance and the tires.

Nevertheless, one can only shout out to the Citroën strategists: “Build this vehicle”. The adventure look is sure to be more popular than the sober American. Especially since some details also increase comfort. The seats of the Citroën My Ami Buggy Concept are equipped with Advanced Comfort seat cushions, the foam thickness of which, at 70 millimeters, is twice as thick as the covers on the series Ami, which are not necessarily characterized by exorbitant comfort. Thanks to the memory foam, the new cushions are extremely light, can be removed from the shell in a few simple steps and then washed.

If you want, you can take it to the beach as a pad. The newly designed storage areas in the cockpit can also be removed in no time, are portable and thus perfectly match the leisure character of the study. A matt gold metal frame is attached above the storage compartments, which prevents objects from sliding around when you are on the move. If you want to put on make-up during the picnic, you can use the removable exterior mirrors, although we assume that this feature will not be implemented in a production model. So that you can spread your adventures on social networks, the My Ami Buggy Concept has brackets for the smartphone and a camera.
