Cisco? The name of this company once had a similar sound to that of Apple or, more recently, Nvidia. Cisco, the network specialist from San Jose, California, was briefly the most valuable company in the world around the turn of the millennium. The company ultimately built the infrastructure without which the Googles, Facebooks and Amazons would not have been able to grow into mega-corporations. Even today, at the beginning of the AI wave, network devices and the corresponding software are in demand. But the former glory has become a little duller, and Cisco recently had to lay off more than 4,000 employees. The SZ spoke to company boss Chuck Robbins about future trends.
