Many fans can already hum along to the title song: The series “Downton Abbey” about an aristocratic family and their employees is getting another sequel. What is known about the cast.

To the series “Downton Abbey” another film is being made. After six seasons and two movies, a third film is now planned, as the companies Focus Feature and Carnival Films announced on Monday. The series tells of a British aristocratic family and their employees at the beginning of the 20th century.

“We are happy to announce that we have begun production on the third Downton Abbey film,” actress Michelle Dockery said in a video on Instagram. It’s nice to get together with everyone again.

Oscar winner Fellowes is writing the screenplay

The series followed Lord and Lady Grantham, their daughters and the staff of their magnificent estate for six seasons. The story began with the sinking of the Titanic and the question of what the family’s future will be.

In addition to the series, which takes place in Highclere Castle, England, the two films “Downton Abbey” and “Downton Abbey II: A New Era” were released. The screenplay for the third film was once again written by Oscar winner Julian Fellowes. As with the second film, Simon Curtis is set to direct.

A number of actors and actresses are returning for the new part – including Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley), Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley), Dockery (Lady Mary), Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith) and Jim Carter (as the butler). The actors Dominic West (“The Crown”) and Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”) are also expected to appear.
