Brilliant spectacle: Mads Mikkelsen, known as the Bond villain from “Casino Royale”, presents his latest film “King’s Land” at the 31st Hamburg Film Festival and ensures an exciting evening.
Glamor appearance in front of a cinema at Hamburg’s Dammtor: Hollywood star Mads Mikkelsen steps out of a Moia car onto the red carpet. The actor of the Bond villain from “Casino Royale” presented his new film “King’s Land” (original title: “Bastards”) on Thursday evening on the occasion of the 31st Film Festival in Hamburg.
Mikkelsen described the Danish film with his favorite German word: “The film is a bit crazy, but in a good way.” In it he plays Ludvig Kahlen, the illegitimate son of a rural aristocrat. Outcast, he becomes captain in the service of a Mecklenburg army and wants to regain the title of nobility that he believes he is entitled to. The method: to tame the heath of Jutland, a bandit-infested area, for settlement for the king.
“King’s Land” has been submitted by Denmark for the 2024 Academy Awards as best international film. “It’s a small step, but as a Dane I’m super proud to show Americans such an epic film,” Mikkelsen said.
