“Red Sky” selected for European Film Awards

The European Film Awards will be presented in Berlin at the beginning of December. Outstanding films in European cinema are honored.
With “Red Sky” and “The Teacher’s Room” two celebrated productions are in the running for this year’s European Film Awards. The films by Christian Petzold and Ilker Çatak are among the first 19 productions selected for the December 9th in Berlin planned award ceremony by European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions.
More titles are set to be announced in September. The Academy Board recommends the films to its members for nomination. The European Film Awards recognize outstanding films in European cinema.
“Red Sky” tells the story of four young people who are confronted with their feelings as well as with the natural disasters surrounding their holiday home. “The teacher’s room” describes the struggle of a young teacher (Leonie Benesch) for her ideals between hostile staff and difficult students.
Also selected were the Italian-French-German production “Kidnapped” by Marco Bellocchio and the Finnish-German film “Fallen Leaves” by Aki Kaurismäki. The films listed so far also include “20,000 Species of Bees” by Spanish director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren. The production was able to secure a Silver Bear at the Berlinale this year.
