The famous property from “Home Alone” could soon change hands. It has changed quite a bit since the 1990 comedy – and is said to cost a lot.

Anyone who has a piece Anyone who wants to own a piece of film history can now buy the red brick building from “Home Alone”.

The property in the US state of Illinois is said to cost 5.25 million dollars (about 4.83 million euros), as the Wall Street Journal and CBS News reported on Friday (local time).

The 530 square meter home with five bedrooms is located in Winnetka, a chic suburb of Chicago on the north shore of Lake Michigan. Twelve years ago, a couple bought the 100-year-old house for $1.585 million (€1.46 million) and renovated it extensively. The basement now has a home cinema with a bar and a basketball court. Nevertheless, some elements from the film have been retained, including the front door and the stairs on which Kevin sleds.

The classic on Christmas Eve

Anyone who wants to buy the house, however, should not have a problem with screaming fans who, according to the Wall Street Journal, regularly come by to take photos. The current owners don’t mind.

In the family comedy “Home Alone”, an American family forgets their youngest son when they leave for their Christmas vacation in Europe. Eight-year-old Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, has to protect his home from two burglars. In recent years, the 1990 classic, which is traditionally shown on Sat.1, has always been the ratings winner in the Christmas Eve prime time.
