The worms wriggle in the earth. Somewhere a woodpecker knocks. A young woman takes soil samples. A man draws his gun. People will later say about him: “A deranged person is always suspicious.” It’s earthy, rough and dark in “The forest stands silent”. It’s the late nineties, there’s murder, cover-ups, cursing. The discoveries made by a forest student in the Upper Palatinate Forest not only relate to the history of her family, but also to that of the entire village near Weiden. Saralisa Volm staged the symbolic thriller drama and produced it together with Ingo Fliess. It is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Wolfram Fleischhauer, who also wrote the screenplay. Henriette Confurius, Noah Saavedra, August Zirner and Johanna Bittenbinder make the directorial debut of the 37-year-old all-rounder. Premiered at the Berlinale, the film is now in cinemas.
