From now on, in case of emergency, there is no need to go… To the emergency room. In Bordeaux, the CHU no longer accepts patients presenting themselves spontaneously at the counters of this service in order to obtain rapid care.
In a post published on Twitter, the hospital center warns that the “Pellegrin site is closed to patients presenting spontaneously and reserved for the most serious emergencies”.
Properly orient the patient
Patients are invited to call the SAMU by dialing 15 before going to an emergency site. This will allow the regulating doctor to properly guide the patient in order to avoid sometimes very long waits, when he can consult his doctor or be referred to a specialist, explain our colleagues fromActu.fr.
If their medical situation requires it, the SAMU will direct patients to the most appropriate emergency department. On Twitter, the Sud Santé Sociaux CHU de Bordeaux union warns of “emergency care system on the verge of rupture”.
“The Pellegrin adult emergency department is not closing and continues to receive patients requiring urgent care referred to them by the SAMU: traumatology, accidents requiring emergency surgery, stroke emergencies”, specifies for its part the CHU in a press release.
