Christmas speech: Federal President Steinmeier supports Ukraine

In his Christmas speech, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier calls for further support for Ukraine. He paid tribute to the burdens of the Germans from the economic consequences of the war, which were borne by everyone “in solidarity and with humanity” because the fate of the Ukrainians was not indifferent to them. “Until peace can come, it is a human imperative that we support those who are attacked, threatened and oppressed. With this, too, we are casting a light of hope in the darkness of injustice.” Peace in Ukraine is not yet within reach. It must be a just peace that neither rewards land grabbing nor leaves the people in Ukraine to the arbitrariness and violence of their occupiers.
