There was a reason that an Olaf Schubert in the Today’s show and elsewhere as always the same fictional character Olaf Schubert, a Christine Prayon but only there as “Birte Schneider”. She certainly never saw her role in Oliver Welke’s news parody, which oscillates between comedy and satire, as congruent with those she brings to the stage under her real name. Prayon is “as beguiling as it is disturbing,” as the jury of the Dieter Hildebrandt Prize put it in the eulogy that Prayon received in 2019.
