At a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit celebration, Christie Brinkley still steals the show on the red carpet at age 70.

Model Christie Brinkley (70) caused a stir at the celebrations for the new issue of “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit”. The 70-year-old came to the event in New York City, which also celebrated the magazine’s 60th anniversary, in a tight-fitting, long red dress. The high-necked outfit featured oversized long cap sleeves and a high leg slit.

Brinkley made her red carpet appearance with a big smile. She wore her blonde wavy hair open with a side parting. She chose red lipstick to match the dress. She also combined white pumps and gold earrings with the eye-catching outfit.

Christie Brinkley made history with the magazine

Christie Brinkley can be seen on the current cover alongside Martha Stewart (82), Maye Musk (76), Tyra Banks (50), Winnie Harlow (29) and other legends of “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit”. She made history when she graced the cover of the magazine three times in a row in 1979, 1980 and 1981.

The model, who first appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 1975, explained on Instagram: “If someone had come up to me during my first photo shoot with the iconic magazine and whispered to me, ‘They’ll still invite you to be on the cover when you’re 70,’ I would have laughed at them and called them crazy.”

Brinkley started her modeling career in the early 1970s and was featured on over 500 magazine covers. The mother of three later also worked as an actress, illustrator, photographer, author and designer. She is also an activist for human and animal rights and is committed to environmental protection. The model was married four times, including from 1985 to 1994 to the musician Billy Joel (75), with whom Brinkley appeared in several music videos. Her fourth marriage, to the architect Peter Cook, ended in 2008.
