According to authorities, Christian Oliver and his daughters were on their way from Bequia to the island nation of St. Lucia on Thursday. Bequia is an island in the Grenadines and lies between the Caribbean and the Atlantic.

Why the plane crashed is currently being investigated.

Around midday, eyewitnesses saw the plane, a Bellanca, crash into the sea. A video is circulating on social media that also includes the “ Daily Mail“ published in which the crash can be seen.

According to the news agency “Searchlight”, based on the main island of St. Vincent, Sachs contacted the tower shortly after the plane took off from Bequia: the plane was having problems and he wanted to turn back. After that, contact broke off.

An eyewitness, a retired Coast Guard officer, told “ iWitness“: “It seemed as if the power went out or the motor failed (…).”

It looked as if the plane was turning to fly back to the airport. But then the wind came up. “At that moment the wind took control of the plane and it crashed into the water,” said the eyewitness.

Christian Oliver grew up in Frankfurt am Main and lived in his adopted home of Los Angeles. There he founded the film production company Chabo Films, with which he also implemented projects in Germany. He arrived in the Caribbean with his daughters on Boxing Day. It was supposed to be a dream vacation.
