The fall from grace of the choreographer Marco Goecke has long since become a stage spectacle: “The Dog Poop Attack”, a production by the Theaterhaus Jena, will be a guest at the Berlin Theatertreffen in May – and the artist himself will be released from prison leave at the scene of the crime. In February 2023, Goecke was fired as ballet director by the Hanover State Opera and banned from the company after he smeared the feces of his (now deceased) dachshund Gustav on an unpopular dance critic. The criminal proceedings initiated were discontinued upon payment of a fine.
