Schalke 04 showed an impressive fan choreo on Sunday evening. The police and fire brigade found the process potentially dangerous – and for the time being ban further choreos.

At the home game on Sunday evening, the organized fan scene of Schalke 04 was once again creative: A choreography showing a white jersey colored by blue smoke adorned the north stand before kick-off. But that’s exactly why there is now trouble with the police and fire brigade.

It can be chaotic and bad times at Schalke, but the fans still create a remarkable atmosphere. This is also the case on Sunday evening: before the game against the Sc freiburgthe was lost 0:2a fascinating choreography adorned the north stand of the Veltins Arena.

To see: A curve soaked in blue and white, with a large, white S04 jersey emblazoned in the middle. After the shirt was put on, blue smoke pots were lit so that the shirt showed in the club colors. An impressive sight that even received praise across fan scenes.

There was much less praise from the police and fire brigade. On the contrary: Schalke is now threatened with trouble because of this choreo.

Police: “Until further notice” no more choreos allowed at Schalke

A sticking point for the police and fire brigade: The blue smoke pots behind the jersey. In a statement it says (via WAZ): “Contrary to the agreements, the fans burned down numerous smoke pots, among other things. This affected both the spectators and the teams of both clubs. The referee interrupted the game for a few minutes.”

Christian Dingert had to stop the game for a minute or two. Because the smoke hadn’t dissipated quite so quickly, the Gelsenkirchen penalty area was not properly visible for a short time. After that it went on as normal.

Apparently, however, a bigger problem for the law enforcement officers. In the preliminary meeting, the club and the fan scene would have given their consent, but the process seems to have been too dangerous – at least according to the police and fire brigade.

The consequence: “The police and fire brigade agreed during the game that they would no longer agree to the club’s security concept for the time being as soon as choreographies were registered.”

How is this wording to be interpreted? Not clear. It is quite possible that there will be a meeting between the association and the police in which this matter will be discussed and cleared up. There could also be one or the other more detailed examination of the next choreo concepts. However, it could also result in a stricter ban. Then royal blue would no longer be allowed to show choreos “until further notice”.
