Chiron: Bugatti says goodbye to iconic super sports car

Canadian entrepreneur Bilal Hydrie can count himself lucky. After two years of waiting, he was recently able to travel to the Bugatti factory in France and pick up his Chiron. And if that wasn’t special enough, his vehicle is the last basic model of the super sports car.

The “Last 1500hp Chiron” in glossy black with copper details is apparently the last vehicle from the luxury manufacturer with the standard engine. Bugatti took this as an opportunity to celebrate the car on social media. The manufacturer writes: “Prepare to say goodbye to the era of the Chiron. Bugatti unveils the last 1500 hp Chiron as the brand prepares to deliver the last Chiron in a few months.”

Basic model sold out: Bugatti only has special editions left

Because the farewell to the Chiron, which has been built in France since 2016, is one in installments. Bugatti delivered the last Chiron “Super Sport 300+” in June 2022, and the one-off piece called the Bugatti Chiron “Profilee” was sold in February of last year for 9.8 million euros. What remains is an unknown number of the W16-powered Mistral and Bolide models, each offering more power. With 1850 hp, the Bolide super sports car represents the upper end of the performance spectrum. It would also be conceivable that Bugatti would release a completely new special model as a farewell.

The buyer of the last “1500 hp” Chiron did not reveal what exactly he paid for the vehicle, but he did provide a glimpse of the first digit of the total. This shows that he had to put down more than three million US dollars. This is hardly surprising, because the new price of a Chiron without any special treatment is at least 2.6 million euros net. In addition, Hydrie’s car receives special treatment in Bugatti’s in-house customization department “Sur Measure”.

It will now be interesting to see how Bugatti will say goodbye to the Chiron and the W16 engine. Nothing more than the time limit that this will happen in “a few months” is known yet.
