China’s Henan province: Dozens dead in factory fire

According to Chinese state media, dozens of people have died in a fire at a company site in central China. A few people are still missing. The company is supposed to trade in chemicals.

At least 36 people have died in a fire at a factory in China. According to state television, the fire broke out on Monday in the city of Anyang in the central Chinese province of Henan. There was initially no information about the cause.

Two people were injured and taken to the hospital, two others are still missing. More than 260 emergency services were involved in the rescue work.

According to the AP news agency, the fire broke out in Anyang’s so-called high-tech zone at a factory that trades in chemicals and industrial goods. Fatal industrial accidents keep happening in China. Safety regulations are often not complied with, fire protection in particular is often neglected.
