Former Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang is dead. He suffered a sudden heart attack on Thursday and died the next day in Shanghai at the age of 68, the state news agency Xinhua reported.
The former Chinese premier and cabinet chief served under President Xi Jinping for a decade starting in 2013 and retired in March. The Beijing University-educated economist was once considered a leading candidate for the leadership of the Communist Party, but has been increasingly sidelined by Xi in recent years.
