These are scenes that are rarely seen in China: Hundreds of workers are protesting on the premises of China’s largest iPhone factory. Security forces attack them and beat them down. Both sides hit each other with sticks and metal bars. Injured people lie on the ground. Others hold up their cell phones and stream the protests live on the Internet. All of China is watching. “Don’t film the faces,” some shout. And: “This is a protest for the fatherland”.
