China entry: Port company is said to have violated rules – Economy

The entry of the Chinese state-owned company Cosco at the port of Hamburg is becoming increasingly questionable. After research by Suddeutscher Zeitung, NDR and WDR, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) is said to have failed to register the Tollerort terminal as a critical infrastructure. At least that is the assessment of the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWK). Accordingly, the registration should have taken place in April 2022 – and not at the beginning of this year. The omission could now ensure that the planned deal between HHLA and Cosco bursts.
