Children’s hospitals are in need, countermeasures have not been taken for years – opinion

How do you increase the word crisis in medicine? The answer is simple: children’s hospital. The doctors there are sounding the alarm because they can no longer care for babies, children and young people. They complain about catastrophic conditions; there is a lack of beds, staff and time anyway. Seriously ill children have to be moved hundreds of kilometers. The intensive care and emergency physicians have just pointed out the dramatic shortage; almost half of the children’s hospitals no longer have a free bed, even on normal wards. It doesn’t take the current pronounced accumulation of respiratory diseases, fueled by the RSV wave, to see pediatric medicine as what it has been for years: a politically and socially accepted tragedy.
