Cherson: Russians announce retreat, but city is not liberated

The Russian defense minister struck a completely new note yesterday: the withdrawal of his troops was intended to avoid a high number of casualties in the Cherson region. But the Ukrainians do not see this as a good sign.

The news was broadcast by all Russian TV channels: Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu ordered the Russian army to be withdrawn from the Ukrainian city of Kherson and from the right bank of the Dniester. The aim is to avoid high numbers of casualties among the soldiers and the civilian population of the region.
