“The audience has evolved and is ready for series like Chernobyl “, Estimated Christine Bouillet, director of programming M6, in a recent interview with 20 minutes. And she got it right, since the HBO event, which aired Thursday night, had the best launch for an American series on the channel in five years, with 3.7 million viewers and a market share of 18, 5%. For comparison, last week, M6 programmed the film First name in front of just 1.4 million people.

Despite this very good result, the channel did not win at the top of Thursday’s audiences, and left first place to TF1 with its new fiction Luther. This remake of the cult English series attracted 3.9 million viewers for an audience share of 19.1%. It’s not bad, even if HPI was more than double a week earlier. Note that on the target of women purchasing managers under the age of fifty, M6 beats TF1 at 30% against 15%.
