Chemical wage round: A message to the hotheads – economy

Despite inflation and recession, the chemical industry quickly agrees on more money for the workers. Other sectors should take this as a model instead of making the winter crisis worse with unnecessary conflicts.

The contrast could hardly be sharper. A few days ago, the republic discussed whether 10.5 percent more wages for the public sector are right. Or whether this demand is exaggerated, especially if it is to be accompanied by massive strikes. In the chemical industry, the IG BCE union has not trumpeted any demands – but has now quietly agreed with the industry on more money for the employees. In doing so, she sets an example of how Germany can get through this winter of crisis without unnecessary conflicts.
